Early Life and Education: Born on 11 November 1951, Dr. Phanindranath Thota dedicated his life to the advancement of medicine and medical education.He completed his MBBS from JIPMER, Puducherry, followed by MD in Anaesthesiology from PGIMS, Chandigarh.To further strengthen his expertise, he underwent advanced training at the Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST), Thiruvananthapuram.
A Remarkable Professional Journey: Dr. Thota served at Kasturba Medical College (KMC), Manipal from 1979 to 2000, contributing more than two decades of dedicated service to one of India’s leading medical institutions.His vision and leadership played a pivotal role in establishing the Department of Anaesthesiology as a centre of academic excellence.Following his tenure at KMC, he continued serving the people of Andhra Pradesh until 2004, carrying forward his passion for patient care and education
Building an Academic Legacy: One of Dr. Thota’s greatest achievements was laying the foundation for the well-recognized Department of Anaesthesiology at Kasturba Medical College, Manipal.He served as the Head of the Department of Anaesthesiology from 1990 to 1995, leading the department with dedication and academic vision.He also became the First Controller of Examinations at Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), where he contributed significantly to strengthening academic standards and examination systems.
